Final questions

The importance of blog will only grow in the future, With the emergence of social networking everybody believes that they have a voice and a opinion, which honestly they do. However being a journalist is not about voice or opinion it is however about the truth.

Am I going to blog again well that totally depends is I can drive traffic to my blog. Its just a online diary if no one reads it.

If i were going to continue blogging i would differently spice up the design of my blog and blog on events or concerts that I have been to.

My suggestion for the class was make future students do to blog one to answer the questions that you ask us to give you. and another for the subject of their choosing so if they do have traffic coming to their blog the readers will be able to stay on subject.

Take it easy Prof see ya in the fall

Live/Work Abroad?

As a child I always thought about leaving Oklahoma. I dreamt of moving to another state getting a good job and raising a family. I think the only thing that stopped me from moving out of Oklahoma was the fear of the unknown, could I make it where nobody knows me and I dont know anyone?

Did I dream too small is a question that I ask now. why not dream bigger ? Well speaking to Dr. Sridhar Krisnaswami of SRM University in Chennai, India I wonder should I look at living abroad.

Before meeting Dr. Krisnaswami the thought of International life never entered my mind. But after meeting Dr. Krisnaswami and he told me that there is a growing need for graphic designers and advertising because of the news paper boom there. I have  wondered what would it be like to live abroad? Especially, when the economy in America is so bad and it is currently hard to find a job.

There will be barriers to my decision the language, the money, the leaving of my family, friends, everyone I  ever known. But are those decisions I can live with ?    I really don't know, but I intend to find out .....

Young rapper Lil B has announced that his new album will be called "I'm Gay."

Ok what sense does this make why would you want to proclaim yourself as something your not. and at least have a good explanation for what you mean

I could see if you had a explanation like NAS
Nas stated "We're taking power [away] from the word," he added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights movement, but some of my n---as in the streets don't know who [civil-rights activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n---as in the streets don't know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my older people who don't now who Nas is and who don't know what a street disciple is, stay outta this mutha----in' conversation. We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power [away] from that word."

But I don't agree with just picking words for the sake of creating controversy.  And the wonder why people say real hip-hop is dead. To me it seems like Lil B he is going to allow his marketing skills to over shadow his talent. Word the the wise Lil B it doesn't matter what you call your LP,  real hip-hop heads care about that the LP is fire when it hits the deck.

Blind Fury Winner of the BET 106 in Park

Battle Rap is mostly about one line metaphors. But it goes a lil deeper than that you also have to factor in who goes first and who goes last, who's the crowd favorite, what did he say and what can I say to top him and the beat that is being played for the MC's.

To me the first thing a MC has to do is what is called "catch the beat" this is when the MC feels the vibe of the music. It is the most important part of the battle because the beat will dictate what the MC will open with. So therefore the ears play a large part in battle rap.

So saying all this I am not surprise to see the Freestyle Friday champ be a blind guy name Blind Fury who also happens to be white. I like him, not because he is a blind dude that raps but because how he raps his flow is sick.  But hey check it out for yourself.

Meek Mill - Tupac Back (Ft. Rick Ross) From the Self Made album

I happen to like Rick Ross I think the way he delivers his rhymes are nice and he usually has a catchy hook in his songs

The only thing I don't like about Ross is most of the time, he base his songs on other people's lives . In a sense I think he does this because himself has not gone through the things that the people he uses for inspiration have gone through. The only possible aspect that Ross can connect with is the fact that most of the people he chose at one time or another were financially unstable. Also know as broke, but honestly who can not relate to that issue.

Let's take a look at a few of the people Rick has chose to make money from by writing about their lifestyle.

First it began with his name Rick Ross which was based on the real life Drug Kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross. Freeway Rick Donnell Ross was the first person to sue The rapper Rick Ross for the use of his name

Panamanian Gen. Manuel Noriega Claim to know the real Noriega and supposedly Noriega ol' him a hundred favors

Pablo Escobar supposedly knows Pablo Escobar who died in 1993

Larry Hoover In the song B.M.F. he claims he thinks he is Larry Hoover how is that when Larry Hoover is serving six life sentence in a max security prison.

Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory In the song B.M.F. he claims he thinks he is Big Meech who is serving a 30 year sentence

Notorious Big AKA The Teflon Don One of the most notable rappers of all time who died in a L.A. drive-by Ross titled his latest CD after BIG who got the title from the original Teflon Don John Gotti

2Pac who died in a Las Vegas drive-by and with his latest mixtape he spits the names of Tupac's number one records.

Is there no end to what Rick Ross will claim he is or what he has become? The real question is without all the different people which Ross inspires to be like would he be as good as we think he is now?

XXL's 2011 Freshman Class

Recently XXl magazine introduced it freshman class of new artist. According to XXL these are the MC's of the future.

The Freshman Class of  2011 includes Yelawolf (From Shady), CyHI The Prince, Mac Miller, YG, Diggy (Rev Run's son  from the HipHop pioneers Run DMC), Kendrick, Fred the Godson, Lil B, Meek Mill, Big Krit, and Lil Twist (from Young Money).

Some of these guys to me are nice with the mic skills, However you can tell that there is a rank among the 2011 Class. This is how I would rank them

1. Yelawolf  Hyperized flow sick comparable to the Chi Town motor mouth him self Twista
2. CyHi the Prince Sick Flow with that down south draw I would compare him with B.O.B.
3. Mac Miller From Pittsburg flow is constant but hit hard.
4. YG Gangsta HardCore is the word that would summarize YG's flow
5. Diggy All I could say about Diggy is he is unexpected to have this type of flow and he has a swag that has nothing to do with his dad at 16 he stands a his on man out of the shadow of his father.

These are the the top 5 MC's from the 2011 class  that  I believe that can achieve greatest in this Hip hop  game.  But you be the judge.

The Social Network

This was a good film it gave me a glimpse of recent history. The film allowed me to remember the steps Facebook took to achieve greatness. The film also confirmed that thorough hustle and hard work that anything is possible. They only thing I didn't like about the film was Mark Zuckerberg turned on his friends and all through the movie Mark kept saying he didn't care about the money if this was true he would not be the worlds youngest billionaire today.

D- Town Funkk

Last weekend was my birthday weekend. So me and my boys hit Dallas to kick it for the weekend. everyone knows that every part of the country has a different sound and D-Town is no different.

On the club scene Crush by Beat King was played like 50 times and Hammer by Beat King was play in close rotation to Crush. The beats on both songs stand up to the Beat King's name. The beats are bass laced and make you want to groove. Beat King is from Houston but has a large following in Dallas.

Crush also has a official dance. I attached a youtube version of Crush so you can heard and feel the D-Town Funk

I Had Tunnel Vision

I've seen the finish line, panting hard but I was leading the pack; I stretched my neck out to cross the yellow ribbon, only to be tripped up by a inexperience runner / my academic advisor.

I could see myself falling as I tumbled just before the finish line paint. To lose this race is more damaging  to my self esteem than any other loss in my career. I personally guaranteed my victory of this race. At this time, all my fans were excited. Hell, I was excited.

The question is how do I recover from this loss? What should be my next step? Should I quit, or should I continue until I have mastered this race? I am physically still but mentally I am running 100 mph. At the same time whining about what has happened is so unfair. Emotionally I'm a wreck--anger sadness and disappointment swirl together in my mind like a funky paint mix. I guess these are the things that champions are made out of. I can tell myself that with no struggle there is no progress. I can tell myself don't quit you are so close. But quitting looms over head.

I guess I will have to consider my future as a career student.

Chris Brown Debuts New Blonde Hair

First, I'm offend that Chris Brown would take this chance at getting back into the limelight to do some bull like dye his hair blonde. Let us take a moment and think of a person in R&B that has dye their hair blonde and stayed relevant. None that I can think of, You had Sisqo fro Dru Hill and you see what happen to his career. Chris do what you did to earn the fan base you had, perform your talent to perfection and leave the marketing to the professionals

Tired of the Black and Yellow REMIXXES

Ok it was cool when it was black and yellow by Wiz Khalifa. Then you had Green and Yellow by Lil Wanye  for  Super Bowl XLV and  the Green Bay Packers. Now you have Purp and Yellow by Snoop Dogg for The Lakers I think more than one remix kills the original hype for a track and can run it into the ground were people don't want to heard it anymore.   SO please  STOP WITH THE BLACK AND YELLOW REMIXES!!!!!!

THe Brat is Back

I think the Brat was and still is one of the most underrated female emcees in rap. She has been in the game forever. And I never heard her with a weak 16  I just hope she can reinvent herself after her 2.5 year prison stint. She may want to cause a beef with the hottest chick in the game right now even though I am not riding her bandwagon Nicki Minaj I think she might do better than Lil Kim because The Brat is more of a lyricist.

Future of blogging with Hochenauer

The future of blogging is considered to currently being a  absorbed by the main stream. So theres for Mr. Hochenauer stated the most important steps for us as blogger to know. Learn content management systems photograph, audio, video,  job may expect you to know all formats, and be prepared for criticism. He stated he has received numerous  threats of violence against him, for his comments on his blog.  However he does like having his blog it gives him a chance to write regularly and he even writes for the Oklahoma Gazette because of his writing on the OKIE Funk blog.  Okie Funk  does not make any money but hi has made about 300 bucks from The Blue Oklahoma blog. His goal is to just trying to get his voice heard, his goal is to formulated ideas and opinions. He also believes that the the definition of what a journalists is in flux.
The only regret is he wishes he had stuck with blogger because it was free and open source biggest problem is spam.

DMX Comeback?

I downloaded the mixtape by DMX titled My Last Words 2 The single from this mixtape is titled  Change Gon Come in which the original Change is going to come by Sam Cooke is sampled. X deliver a gritty hyped flow that we know X for but it just seems a little off in my opinion. I think DMX is out of practice due to his legal woes.  However I do think that DMX is on his way back.

Following HipHop Junkiez

Following HipHop Junkiez is like following the entire hiphop lifestyle it is not just music on this blog. It is not just main street hip hop it reach into the gutter to pull artist up to the main stream if that is their goal. It also has issue that pertain to hip hop like comedy and artists latest news. The best thing i like about it is that you can download underground music or mixtapes  which you can not find in Oklahoma.

AOL Buys Huffington Post

This was the first time I even heard of the Huffington Post. So I am not familiar with The Huffington. However I am familiar with the The AOL Time Warner merger and we see how that went. They divorced faster than hollywood celebs. So we will see how this business venture goes.

A nice cup of Joe with Doc Clark

Social Media is still  new concept, but a concept that still must be mastered at this stage.Social networking is the future of journalism. Social networking allows everyone to have a voice, not just the people with the biggest wallets. Social networking is big business, reaching millions upon million so latching oneself to the social networking movement is a sound business plan,at least till the next big thing comes along. Just ask Myspace, who failed to attach itself with Facebook and got left behind.

Blogging who knew a blog could be turning into a great source of income. Especially a blog that is the complete opposite of most of the blogs out today.  I enjoyed reading this story it includes the hope of the "American Dream".

Just plain good writing
This is a well written piece  it makes you use your minds eye to scan throughout history. I think the story has one major theme, which is perseverance. The story reminds us no matter what is going on around you we must keep going to carve out our own space in this world.

Blogging can be dangerous to your health
Of course blogging can be bad for your health. I believe you have to ask yourself three questions before you post something on the web for all to see. The first is are you ready to take responsibility for what you post. And what may other people opinions be about what you have posted. And the final questions is can you deal with the good and bad consequences of you post.

Newspaper woes
As humans we can sometimes  lose our way. I think this is what has happen to the L.A. Times judging from this article. They to me have lost a grip on their local market. Most people like to know whats going on in their backyard before peeking in to the neighbor's. Otherwise your are just a paper who has the title of Los Angeles Times, but you really do not represent the city Los Angeles.
